Authorities in southwest Atlanta say an 11-year-old girl who hasn't been seen since Thursday afternoon has been found safe.
According to police, Nickeya Gause's mother received an email from her sometime after 7 a.m., saying she walked to her home in Lithia Springs.
The mother and police left the search location headquarters -- which was at the grandmothers's home -- and went to the Gauses home to verify that Nickeya Gause was home and safe.
Nickeya Gause was last seen getting off a school bus on Omaha Road on Thursday afternoon. Police and family canvassed the area in search of Gause but were unable to locate her.
The family said she had never disappeared before.
