Romney wins Indiana, North Carolina; Sen. Lugar Loses Indiana

WASHINGTON (Associated Press) -

Veteran IndianaSen. Richard Lugar has lost a bitter challenge from the right flank of his own Republican Party.

Tea party-backed Richard Mourdock will face Democratic Rep. Joe Donnelly in the November general election. Senate Democrat Charles Schumer says Lugar's loss "gives Democrats a pickup opportunity." 

Mitt Romney has won the Indiana and North Carolina presidential primaries and is expected to take West Virginia.

The three states would give Romney about 100delegates of the 288 he still needs to wrap up the GOP presidential nomination.
