GM Stan Bowman has announced Norm Maciver will replace Marc Begevin as Blackhawks assistant general manager.
Maciver was recently promoted in the past year to director of player personnel. He has been with the Hawks for fives seasons and was originally hired as the director of player development.
Maciver was a two-time All American and played in the NHL for 12 seasons as a defenseman. The 47-year-old Thunder Bay, Ontario native was undrafted and played for seven different NHL clubs.
GM Bowman released this statement Monday:
"Norm has proven to be a valuable asset to our hockey operations over the past five years, so we are excited to be able to elevate him to this role," Blackhawks Vice President/General Manager Stan Bowman said.
"He has an excellent handle on the players within our organization, from recent draft picks to veterans, and a great eye for talent evaluating. Promoting within our organization is something we take great pride in and we are very confident in what he will contribute on a daily basis as we strive to hire the best possible candidate at every position."
