New Rivers Casino halts Illinois gambling revenue decline

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -
The new RiversCasino in Des Plaines has stopped a decline in Illinois gamblingrevenue.
The new casino isbeing credited with a 22 percent increase in casino revenue in the state sinceit opened last July.
However, thesuccess of the Rivers Casino has led to a drop in profits at six of the state'sother nine casinos.
That could givemore ammunition to those who say bringing new casinos to Chicago and other cities will only take awayrevenue from the ones already operating.
The net effect: Illinois casinos brokeeven last year.
