Authorities in
north-central Illinois
say they're investigating the possibility that high winds caused a freight
train to derail, damaging about 30 rail cars.
The cars went off
the tracks around 3 p.m. Sunday just east of Toluca
near the Marshall
County-LaSalle County
line.
Emergency
management authorities say an inspection of the tracks found no damage. But
there were reports of strong wind gusts in the area at the time that left
behind broken power poles and downed wires.
The Marshall County
Sheriff's Department says no injuries were reported.
Toluca is about 100 miles
southwest of Chicago.
A phone message
left Monday with the Burlington North Santa Fe railroad wasn't immediately
returned.
