Nine people were rescued from a boat that was sinking in Lake Michigan Sunday night.
The Police Department's Marine Unit was dispatched after police received a call of a boat in distress, police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said, citing preliminary information.
No one was injured during the incident, Alfaro said.
The boat was located about half a mile from the intersection of Lake Shore Drive and Diversey, and the people were taken to Belmont Harbor, according to Fire Media Affairs.
The U.S. Coast Gaurd was notified of the boat, which eventually sank, Fire Media Affairs said.
