Authorities say they've arrested a man wanted in connection to the shooting of his wife. They say Michael Parson was taken into custody following a traffic stop near Tyler, Texas just before midnight on Saturday.
Police issued a warrant for Parson's arrest Friday. His wife, Adina, was shot eight times outside her Sandy Springs apartment on April 20. Adina Parson works as an attorney for the Georgia Department of Public Health. She remains in critical condition at Grady Memorial Hospital.
When he was arrested, Sandy Springs police say Michael Parson was in possession of the green Honda Civic that police mentioned on Friday when they issued the warrant for his arrest. He was taken into custody and is being held in the Van Zandt County Jail in Canton, Texas.
On Friday, authorities told FOX 5 that Parson had left the area and hadn't been seen in 48 hours. Adina Parson's family members told FOX 5 they were shocked by the news that her husband was now wanted in connection to the shooting.
"I'm kind of surprised. I'm just amazed… shocked is the word," said Parson's aunt, Pam Dickerson.
For the past two weeks, Dickerson has been at her bedside. She said Michael Parson was there, too, and he had seemed like a loving husband up until he went missing.
"As a husband should be, he was concerned about his wife, but you would believe he was overwhelmed with pain because it's your wife," said
Police originally did not consider Michael Parson as a suspect in the case, but they say the investigation eventually led them back to him. They say he was at first cooperative, but then he disappeared.
