An employee of a jewelry store in Chicago's western suburbs is accused of stealing more than $200,000 worth of gold bars from the business and reselling them.
Police say store manager Daniel Knaack swiped 15 of the gold bars over a six-month period before the owner of Costello Jewelry in Glen Ellyn discovered gold was missing.
The Chicago Sun-Times reports that Knaack had worked at the store for 12 years and that as a manager he had access to the gold.
Deputy Police Chief Bill Holmer says an investigation led to Knaack, who has been charged in the case. Holmer says the man turned himself in on April 27.
