At least two people were killed when a small plane crashed near a small northwest suburban airport Thursday afternoon.
The small, single-engine Beech 35 aircraft crashed near Lake in the Hills Airport, near the intersection of Pyott and Virginia roads, according to the FAA. It was not yet known if the plane was departing or arriving at the airport when the crash occurred.
The FAA said there were two fatalities reported from the crash but specific information on those victims would be available from the McHenry County Coroner's office. The coroner's office has been notified of the crash and was on the scene, but had no details available as of 4 p.m.
