CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -
Some bank bandits don't seem to care about security cameras when they walk in and demand money. But others go to great lengths to disguise their identity.
FBI Special Agent Joan Hyde said the FBI dubbed the crook the "Two-Faced Bandit" because he dramatically alters his appearance during bank robberies by putting on an elderly man mask, which completely hides his identity.
In addition, he wears sun glasses to prevent the tellers or the cameras from getting a glimpse of his eyes. He also disguises his race by wearing gloves, leaving investigators little to go on. The FBI believes he has robbed three banks.
The FBI said his first robbery took place at the US Bank branch at 111th and Kedzie on February 29, and later that same day he robbed a TCF Branch bank in Hickory Hills. Surveillance photos captured the bandit during those robberies.
On March 6 he's suspected of robbing an Archer Bank in Summit. None of these cases was a so-called takeover robbery.
Instead the way this bandit operates, he enters the bank, presents the teller a note announcing a robbery and demands cash. He then exits the bank and disappears. He has implied he has a weapon but never shown one.
The FBI is offering up to a $5,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest. And right now, because agents don't have much of a physical description, they're hoping a FOX Chicago News viewer might recognize the hat or sunglasses he wears or perhaps they know someone who has or elderly man mask and who recently has been flashing around some cash.
If someone knows something, the FBI asks that person call police.
Here is a partial description of the "Two-Faced Bandit:"
He is a man, race unknown, about 5 feet six or seven in inches tall with a medium build.
He was wearing, at the time a black jacket, a black beret and those black metal frame sunglasses. He is considered armed and dangerous.
If you believe you might know who this individual is, please call police.
