It looks like Mayor-Elect Rahm Emanuel may be going out of state in his search for the next leader of the Chicago Public Schools.
According to the Chicago Tribune , Emanuel is searching for innovators and reformers to improve student performance and close a $750 million budget gap.
Among those being considered are Jean-Claude Brizard, who heads the Rochester, New York school system; Jerry Weast, who is in charge of a suburban district in Washington, D.C; and Andres Alonso, who has been leading the Baltimore school system for four years.
After Ron Huberman submitted his resignation last year, Terry Mazany was appointed interim chief of CPS. He has said he will not seek the full-time job.
