Fox, Children's Miracle Network Team Up

Fox stations have partnered with Children's Miracle Network to bring you inspirational stories from children's hospitals around the country.

Now you can learn more about what Children's Miracle Network does and how you can get involved. A new site,, launches February 18.

Spending part of her sixth grade year in a hospital hasn't been easy for Valencia Nunn, but at least she gets to dance.

"When I listen to music, I dance a lot," said Nunn.

At Dell Children's Medical Center, in Austin, Texas, the 11-year-old has access to the "teen room," complete with a juke box and fooze ball table.

"It kind of takes away the pain to get you focused on something else," said Nunn.

Valencia has pancreatitis and often spends days or weeks at a time away from home. The teen room is one feature at the hospital that is made possible with help from the children's miracle network.

"Children's Miracle Network raises funds for 170 hospitals around the U.S.," said Children's Miracle Network coordinator Kip Holmes.

The funding goes toward specialized medical care, equipment, and research. The hospitals in the network treat 17 million children each year. The purpose is to improve and save kids' lives.

"The children who are treated, it's everything from injuries to illnesses like asthma or cancer or heart disease," said Holmes.

At the Austin hospital alone, more than $1 million is raised each year through Children's Miracle Network programs and sponsers. Any program, any piece of equipment has been touched by Children's Miracle Network.

And through the network, hospitals across the country provide more than $2.5 billion in charitable care to children.

News Corp., the owner of Fox stations around the country, is working alongside Children's Miracle Network to share the many positive stories made possible by CMN.

With the launching of a new web site,, people can submit and view these stories, learn how to donate or volunteer. They'll also be able to share other positive stories from their lives.

"We have things that go on at the hospital that you wouldn't think about," said Holmes. Like Nunn's love for dancing, that helps her forget she's sick, and let's her be a kid. "It's a bigger picture than people realize."
