Study: Teacher Salary Not Equal to Achievement

Big pay doesn't necessarily mean big results, according to a recent Sun-Times analysis of teacher salaries across the state.

It found out of the 25 top salary districts in Illinois, only seven of them lead in student achievement.

Dance instructors get paid the most, around $79,000.

The top paying high school district is Township District 113 in Highland Park. Teachers there make about $94,000 a year.

Butler District 53 in Oak Brook has the highest paid elementary teachers at $80,000.

Several factors played a role in the paychecks, including property values, seniority and whether teachers have an advanced degree.
