Did Political Correctness Force Editing of 'Pledge of Allegiance': FOX Chicago GM Mike Renda

NBC Sports opened its final round coverage of the U.S. Open golf tournament with a montage that showed children reciting the Pledge of Allegiance in a classroom to capture the patriotism of the day.

To the shock of many people, the words "under God" and "indivisible" were edited out of the pledge that aired.

Then NBC issued an immediate apology during the coverage, claiming it did not mean to upset anyone.

The response was a storm of criticism on many social media platforms and mainstream media outlets.

Why were people upset? The Pledge of Allegiance being recited at the opening of a school day has been standard practice and a unifying symbol of love of our country. Have we really come to the point were these words in the pledge should be edited out to be "politically correct"? Let's hope not!

For those of you who saw the altered version of the pledge on NBC, we are pleased to present the full and unedited version of the pledge recited by the elementary school children at Providence St. Mel on the West Side, who recite it every school day.
