Grilled Steak with Mushrooms & Onions

A classic grilling favorite, add veggies to your steak for a nod to more nutrients! Mushrooms and onions are perfect for this cut – serve with a crisp green salad and fresh fruit for dessert to balance out the meal. Baked potatoes can be done in the oven or on the grill too! Try a sweet potato for even more nutrients and color on your plate.

Grilled Steak with Mushrooms & Onions

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Amount:
4 servings

Ingredients:
1 (18x24-inch) sheet homelife® Heavy Duty Aluminum Foil
1 medium yellow onion, cut in half, thinly sliced
1 (8 ounce) package sliced baby bella mushrooms
2 tablespoons Jewel® Butter, cubed
1 tablespoon chopped wild harvest® Organic Fresh Thyme
2 garlic cloves, thinly sliced
1 pound Stockman & Dakota® Porterhouse or T-Bone Steaks
 

Directions:

  1. Prepare grill to medium heat. Place onions, mushrooms, butter, thyme and garlic in center of aluminum foil. Salt and pepper to taste.
  2. Bring sides of foil together and fold; fold ends to create a foil packet. Place packet on grill. Grill, turning occasionally, 20 minutes.
  3. Meanwhile, season steaks with pepper to taste. Place steaks on grill. Grill turning once, 10-20 minutes (depending on thickness) or until desired doneness is reached (145°F for medium-rare; 160°F for medium). Remove from grill; season with salt to taste.
  4. Carefully open packet and serve onions and mushrooms with steaks.
