Agents Offering Reward for Wanted Gun Trafficker

Federal agents are offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Samuel Nunez, a West Side man wanted for his role in a gun and drug trafficking operation on the city's southwest side.

Samuel Nunez, 24, has been on the run for a year now. He is one of 25 Chicago area men who federal and county prosecutors charged last July following an 18-month undercover investigation.

Nunez was charged with buying and selling at least eight guns over a 14 month period, including several handguns, two shotguns and an AK-47 assault rifle.

He also has a previous felony drug conviction which bars him from possessing a firearm.
The investigation determined that the guns were purchased in neighboring states and brought to Chicago, where they were intended for gang members. Instead, they were sold to undercover agents and officers for up to $1,000 per weapon.

Sanchez has relatives in both Chicago and Texas. However, since he is a Mexican national he may have fled to his native country. His last known address was in the 2700 block of West 39th Place in Chicago.

Nunez is described as a Hispanic male, about 5'8" and 180 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. He has the word “Sabina” tattooed on his chest.

He is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone who has information on his location should contact police.
