The City of Chicago is awarding some of the area's top techies as part of a new app-design contest . We were joined by the winners of the app contest's first round, Mark Lawrence and Jeremy Smith.
Their new app is called Spot Hero, which helps people find parking spots in busy places like near Wrigley Field.
For example, owners of parking lots near Wrigley Field can use the online app to list parking spots for Cubs Games with how much they cost. Drivers can log on to the app, compare prices and reserve one of the spots in advance.
The app works for parking all over the city, including parking lots downtown.
Lawrence and Smith won a $5,000 prize, which they intend to use to expand the offerings, including a creating a mobile version of the app.
