A longer school day has the support of a majority of respondents to a new survey, but some are objecting to the details.
The parent-advocacy group Raise Your Hand conducted a poll on their web site. Parents and teachers from 230 public schools responded to the survey.
Roughly 68 percent of the respondents said they favored the longer day, but most didn't agree with Mayor Rahm Emanuel's push for a seven-and-a-half hour day.
Most people taking the survey didn't want a school day that exceeded seven hours.
