Apple Pecan Crisp

Posted:

It’s definitely apple season! Enjoy this recipe which also incorporates cinnamon for taste and aroma, as well as nuts which provide heart smart fat! A crisp is usually a better choice than pie to save fat and calories, and this recipe uses whole wheat flour and a better type of spread instead of butter, too.

Prep Time: 15 minutes
Bake Time: 35 minutes
Amount: 8 servings

Ingredients:
¾ cup whole wheat flour, divided
½ cup Jewel® Old Fashioned Oats
½ cup chopped pecans
1/3 cup firmly packed Jewel® Brown Sugar
3 tablespoons Jewel ® Better for You Buttery Spread, softened
1 teaspoon Jewel ® Ground Cinnamon, divided
6 cups chopped Granny smith apples (6-8 apples)
½ cup Jewel ® Raisins
2 tablespoons Jewel ® Granulated Sugar

Directions:

  1. In small bowl, combine ½ cup flour, oats, pecans, brown sugar, buttery spread, and ½ teaspoon cinnamon; mix with a fork until well combined.
  2. In large bowl, combine apples, remaining ¼ cup flour, raisins, granulated sugar and remaining ½ teaspoon cinnamon; toss to combine.
  3. Transfer to a 9x9-inch baking dish that has been sprayed with Jewel ® No Stick Cooking Spray. Top with oat mixture. Bake in a preheated 350°F oven 35 minutes or until golden brown and bubbly.
