Rod Blagojevich's brother says the former governor's 14 year prison sentence is too harsh in his first comments to the media since the sentencing.
He was charged along with his brother in the first trial, but prosecutors dropped charges against him for the retrial after a hung jury.
Robert Blagojevich said he was shocked at the severity of the judge's sentence, saying people have received lighter federal sentences for far worse crimes.
Meanwhile, the Chicago Sun-Times reported Patti Blagojevich's father, Ald. Dick Mell (33rd), will likely have to support the family until Rod Blagojevich gets out of prison.
Attorney General Lisa Madigan said the ex-governor's conviction should deny him his state pension.
