In this week’s breakfast club, we were at World's Finest Chocolate. The South Side and family-owned company has been in business for over 60 years. We were joined by CEO Eddie Opler.
Eddie, your grandfather started this company in 1939. They make a lot of chocolate bars for fundraising, and have helped schools raise more than $3 million.
They have also made the world's largest chocolate bar, which weighs 12,000 pounds. The recipe for the chocolate bar includes 1,200 pounds of almonds, 5,500 pounds of sugar, 2,000 pounds of milk powder, 1,700 pounds of cocoa butter and 1,400 pounds of chocolate liquor.
The bar was actually created to help educate kids about healthy and active lifestyles.
The family has a Caribbean cocoa farm on the island of St. Lucia as a way to connect with how the product is created, from start to finish.
