FOX Chicago Sunday: Gary Slutkin on stopping Chicago violence

Updated: Apr 13, 2012 14:56 PM CDT
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Chicago's murder rate has taken a sudden and shocking turn upward - a 60 percent increase in the first quarter of 2012.

Is a long decline in killings coming to an end? What can the police do to reverse it?

While Chicago's police commissioner and mayor have pledged to do everything in their power to reverse that trend, the answers are not easy.

Chicago Ceasefire is the group that gets down and dirty in some of Chicago's most violent neighborhoods, trying to stop gang violence.

Ceasefire's Gary Slutkin joined FOX Chicago Sunday to talk about how the city's foot soldiers can help stop the violence.
