CHICAGO (AP) - Veteran Chicago White Sox first baseman Paul Konerko (kuh-NEHR'-koh) is expected to make his first home start of the season Thursday against the Boston Red Sox. Konerko has had just one hit in nine at-bats as a part-time player. The pitching matchup for the series finale will be Chris Sale (sayl) for Chicago and Jon Lester for Boston.
WASHINGTON (AP) - The St. Louis Cardinals road trip continues Thursday night in the nation's capital. They begin a four-game series against the Washington Nationals as Adam Wainwright tries for his third victory of the season. Taylor Jordan will pitch for Washington.
CHICAGO (AP) - The Chicago Bulls will open the NBA playoffs at home Sunday against the Washington Wizards. The Bulls finished the regular season as the number-four seed in the Eastern Conference while the Wizards leap-frogged the Brooklyn Nets on the final night to grab the fifth spot.
