How about a Good Day shoutout to a non profit that's helping local people with special needs keep their independence.

Avenues to Independence, an organization based out of Park Ridge, provides everything from day programs to residences and even vocational training.

In fact, they even have a work center in Wheeling where they put together products for various companies, like popcorn tins that are sold in supermarkets around the area.

Inside the center are paying jobs for 160 adults with developmental disabilities.
