Chicago - A former Illinois attorney general who lost the 2002 gubernatorial race to ousted Gov. Rod Blagojevich is running for governor again.
Republican Jim Ryan is scheduled to formally announce his candidacy Tuesday in Springfield. Ryan will join a crowded GOP field of six other candidates who filed paperwork to run in the Feb. 2 primary election.
The other Republicans are former Illinois Republican Party chairman Andy McKenna, state Sens. Bill Brady and Kirk Dillard, public relations consultant Dan Proft, DuPage County Board Chairman Bob Schillerstrom and businessman Adam Andrzejewski.
Ryan has been out of the public spotlight for seven years teaching at Benedictine University in Lisle. His campaign said he will tour the state next week.
