Chicago - There are new reports that White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel will step down within the next six to eight months.
The London Daily Telegraph said Emanuel plans to quit because of he is fed up with the idealism of President Obama's closest advisers. It also repeats his interest in running for mayor of Chicago.
The paper said Emanuel is also concerned about burning out and losing touch with his three children.
The paper also reported the president's aides aren't thrilled with Emanuel, either. They're supposedly upset that Emanuel has struggled to get many of the president's top legislative proposals through congress.
The White House responded to the report, saying it's ludicrous.
Illinois Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, a friend of Emanuel's, said he may indeed leave, but it won't be on bitter terms. She said he never intended to stay in the job forever.
Schakowsky said for now, talk of Emanuel leaving, and the reasons why, are just gossip.
