Congressman Danny Davis is the consummate politician and knows an opportunity when he sees one, exactly why he's formed an exploratory committee the plan for one thing and one thing only.

"To run for President of the Cook County Board of Directors,” said David.”

Why the effort? Depends on what part of his statements you believe. Danny Davis says, a poll he commissioned shows that voters are down on sitting Cook County Board President Todd Stroger, who's had a thought time of it. But Congressman Davis also said this during a Fox Chicago studio interview, "What can I do to help improve the quality of life for those who are at the very bottom?"

That's become a theme for him. His measure of society is, “how well it treats it's young people, how well it treats its old and how well it treats those who sometimes have difficulty caring for themselves," said Davis.

He also says the job of President of the often fractured Cook County Board would represent a great opportunity to come home from Washington. He's going to have to defeat a rapidly expanding field of candidates to do that, will likely include Board Member Forrest Claypool, Sheriff Tom Dart , Chicago City Alderman Toni Preckwinkle , Cook County Circuit Court Clerk Dorothy Brown and Cook County Assessor Jim Houlihan.

Representative Davis says, he plans to speak with Todd stronger tomorrow. He did not go into detail about what he plans to say.
