Armed Man Robs First Bank & Trust in Winnetka

Winnetka, Ill. - An armed man robbed the Winnetka branch of First Bank & Trust on Monday afternoon.

At 3:23 p.m., workers inside the bank called Winnetka police, whose department is just a few blocks away, to report that the robbery had occurred, Winnetka police Deputy Chief Patrick Kreis said.

The bank is located at 100 Green Bay Road.

Witnesses said the male suspect demanded money and threatened those inside with a gun. During the episode, a male customer and a female employee were struck in the head with the gun. Kreis said the two, along with another female employee who was not injured in the robbery, were taken to NorthShore Evanston Hospital.

Winnetka police are working with the FBI in the investigation. Police said it was not yet known how much money was taken.

Beside its Winnetka branch, First Bank & Trust has locations in Evanston, Itasca and Skokie.
