Chicago - Gabriela Cedillo, the Chicago woman who was injured during the filming of Transformers 3, is now in a medically-induced coma.

Cedillo, 24, was working as an extra in Hammond, Ind. when she was injured Wednesday night.

Her father received a frantic phone call from the woman's mother.

’She told me Gaby had an accident, and she felt bad. She said something in the head," Gabriel Cedillo said.

Cedillo is recovering from brain surgery overnight at Loyola Medical Center.

She was driving her car while a stunt was being filmed. Witnesses said a cable snapped, whipped through her windshield and hit her in the head.

Cedillo works at a bank and lives in the Little Village neigborhood.

Neighbors said she was excited about working on Transformers 3.

"It was a blessing to know she was going to be a part of it. You know, but then to find out she was part of the unfortunate accident, it set you back a few steps. You want to cheer and then you say wait a minute. Nothing you can do but sit and pray," Nate Smith said.

The last day of filming in Chicago had been scheduled for Thursday, but it was canceled after the injury.

Family members said Cedillo had worked as an extra before and hoped to become an actress.
