Chicago - Today hundreds of President Barack Obama supporters are calling on him to live up to the promises he made for change in America.
It's been a year since he was elected President of the United States and while that is reason to celebrate, Obama's supporters say he has lots of work to do when it comes to the sweeping reforms he promised on election night.
Many of his supporters say they gathered at the Spertus Institute on the night of his historic victory.
They watched and some even cried when he promised changes in Washington that would benefit latinos, gays, the environment, and health care.
"Barack said 'Yes WE can, not yes I can' . We've come far but we've got far to go," said William McNary of Citizen Action Illinois.
Today they will gather at the Spertus Institute again at noon, but this time they'll be reminding President Obama that they expect him to keep working towards a comprehensive immigration reform package.
They want to see legislation that achieves changes for the gay community and addresses the problems of global warming.
"We're here to encourage him to continue to fight to make this a more inclusive America, whether you are an immigrant or whether you are gay." said McNary.
Organizers say within the year he's been in office he's worked on health care reform, but they say it's only one part of the solution.
Today they'll be sending off an over-sized letter asking him to make good on his promises.
"We need an America where we not only bail out the banks, but bail out the people on the bottom. People need good jobs and need to live in their homes without being foreclosed on," McNary said. "This is an America that should work for all of us."
