Chicago - One suspect has been arrested and Chicago police believe they know who the second suspect is in last week’s fatal shooting of an 8-year-old South Side girl.

Prosecutors said the suspect in custody, Steshawn Brisco, said he "didn't care" that the victim, Tanaja Stokes, was jumping rope in front of her Roseland neighborhood home, when the shooting began.

When asked if he knew the girls were in the way, Brisco said, “We didn’t care. We let the whole .40 clip go.”

Stokes' cousin was also wounded in the shooting.

Police on Sunday scoured the neighborhood around 107th and Indiana, handing out fliers and asking for help.

They're looking for someone to speak up about the second suspect's whereabouts or hoping he'll turn himself in.

“I am begging you, turn yourself in. End the circle of violence that hurts this great community," said Police Commander Keith Calloway.

Police say the second suspect is a juvenile, so they can't publicly identify him, but they say he is well-known in the community.
