Oprah, Ellen Unveil Magazine Cover on Michigan Avenue

Talk show hosts Oprah Winfrey and Ellen DeGeneres took to Michigan Avenue on Friday -- giving Chicagoans an early Christmas gift.

The duo appeared across from Water Tower Place handing out free autographed copies to the first 1,000 fans of the upcoming Decemeber issue of Winfrey's magazine.

"This is the issue they are talking about. I have personally licked every single copy," DeGeneres said. "We guarantee this magazine, if you don't like it, Oprah will buy you a car."

Both Winfrey and DeGeneres posted on Twitter late Thursday night they'd appear on Michigan Avenue the following morning, but gave no indication of where or why until Friday morning.

"We don't have enough for everybody here, so we have to do a trade system," DeGeneres joked. "I will give you a magazine for a shoe."

DeGeneres appeared on Winfrey's live show Friday to unveil the cover of the magazine.

DeGeneres had made the pitch to appear on the cover of Winfrey's magazine for months -- even making repeated calls to Harpo Studios during episodes of her show and imposing her picture on various covers of the magazine.

Winfrey made a surprise appearance back in March on DeGeneres' show inviting her to appear on the cover.

DeGeneres is the second to share the cover of Winfrey's magazine. First lady Michelle Obama appeared on the cover in March.
