Chicago - Police were unable to capture a suspect who fled into Naperville this morning after being stopped by Illinois State Police on Interstate 88.
"A trooper made a traffic stop and the subject fled westbound on I-88 (in his car), crashed into a light pole and then took off on foot," said Illinois State Police Master Sgt. Pete Howe early this afternoon. "We conducted a pretty extensive search on foot with several other law-enforcement agencies and just wrapped it up with negative results."
The chase took police near Raymond Drive and Diehl Road. Howe said that reports of the suspect hiding in a Dumpster near the Nicor property at 1844 W. Ferry Road were "errant."
Illinois State Police have the blue Honda being driven by the male suspect in their possession.
"The incident is under investigation and we expect to have a successful result," Howe said.
