There will be no classes again today for kids at eight schools in the south suburbs.

Teachers in Prairie Hills Dist. 144 are on strike.

That affects schools in Oak Forest, Hazel Crest, Markham, and Country Club Hills.

Teachers walked the picket line yesterday after talks broke off Wednesday night.

The district offered a 6 percent raise over two years. The teachers demanded 13 percent over two years. They say their insurance costs are going up.

More than 3,000 students are staying home.
