Chicago - The death of a Calumet City man who was fatally struck by a train Thursday morning on the Northwest Side was ruled an accident, according to autopsy results.

Metra train No. 2105 struck a pedestrian about 7:45 a.m. at the Forest Glen station, according to Metra spokesman Tom Miller. The train was scheduled to arrive in Deerfield at 8:14 a.m.

The man -- identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office as 23-year-old Lamont Dumbar -- was sitting on the edge of the station's platform when he was struck, police News Affairs Officer Robert Perez said.

A Friday autopsy revealed Dumbar, of 387 Madison Ave. in Calumet City, died from multiple injuries from the crash, and his death was ruled an accident, according to the medial examiner’s office.

Chicago Fire Department crews were sent to the scene to help recover the body, Fire Media Affairs spokesman Richard Rosado said.

The incident caused several delays on Milwaukee District North Line trains.

At 9:30 a.m., train No. 2126, scheduled to arrive in Chicago at 9:21 a.m. was 40 minutes behind schedule, while the train involved in the incident was 85 minutes behind schedule, according to a Metra service advisory.

Metra police are investigating.
