Chicago - A Brighton Park neighborhood man was charged Thursday night in the slaying a west suburban man after a Sunday morning argument at a Lincoln Park jazz club.

Jose Melecio, 30, of 4613 S. Sawyer Ave., was charged with murder in the death of Carlos Aguirre, according to police. Melecio was arrested at 11 p.m. Tuesday at Harrison Area police headquarters at 3151 W. Harrison St. and the charge were approved at 10:10 p.m. Thursday.

He is expected to appear for a bond hearing in Violence Court (Br. 66) Friday at the Cook County Criminal Courthouse at 2600 S. California Ave., police said.

Aguirre, 29, of the 9000 block of Palisade in Burr Ridge, was shot multiple times in the abdomen and arm at 4:35 a.m. in the 1500 block of West Webster Avenue, according to police.

Police said Melecio followed Aguirre from the club to his vehicle, then produced a handgun and shot him in the abdomen area.

Aguirre was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 6:30 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

The shooting may have stemmed from an argument at Green Dolphin Street, a jazz club and bar at 2200 N. Ashland, according to a police source.
A Monday autopsy found Aguirre died of multiple gunshot wounds and his death was ruled a homicide, according to the medical examiner's office.
