Chicago - It'll be a busy weekend on the roads and in the air. Despite the gloomy economy, AAA estimates more than 34 million Americans will travel this holiday weekend, and 90 percent of them will be in cars.
More than 211,000 fliers were expected to pass through O’Hare Airport Friday to kick off the Labor Day Weekend.
The Chicago Department of Aviation expects a total of 1.4 million fliers to pass through both O’Hare and Midway Airports during the three days. Friday is expected to be the busiest.
Road travel should be higher, as well. AAA says despite the down economy, it expects a 10 percent increase this year in the number of Americans hitting the roads for 50 miles or more.
State road construction projects will be on hold over the weekend.
We asked you on Facebook what you had planned this weekend. Here's what some of you had to say .
Kristy Conaway Galambos and Glenda Farmer said they were going to Ravinia for the first time. Deyanne Gabriel was going for the classic, "backyard bonfire and hot dogs." Cynthia Villasenor said she is "taking the boat out on Paw Paw Lake in Michigan!" Holly Rieber-Cokinis is "Staying home to do nothing! No Money No Plans!"
