Park Ridge, Ill. - Like an episode of the cable series “Operation Repo,” a northwest suburban man locked a repossession agent in his garage when the agent tried to take his vehicle last week.

Janusz Poziemski, 52, of the 900 block of Oakton Street in Park Ridge faces charges of unlawful restraint and concealment of collateral for allegedly locking the 33-year-old repo man in garage on the night of Aug. 10, Pioneer Press is reporting.

Park Ridge Police Cmdr. Lou Jogmen said the repo agent, who had a valid order to repossess Poziemski’s vehicle, followed Poziemski into the garage about 7 p.m. and attempted to take the vehicle Poziemski had been driving.

That was when Poziemski allegedly locked the garage door from the outside and refused to let the agent out, Jogmen said.

The agent called police from a cell phone and when officers arrived, Poziemski said he was not giving up his vehicle, Jogmen said. When officers told him he was under arrest, Poziemski allegedly resisted efforts to take him into custody and was also charged with resisting a police officer.

The type of vehicle being repossessed was not indicated in the police report, Jogmen said.
