'Idol' Contestant Searches for Missing Mom

It's been five days since Angela Martin last saw her mother, Viola Brown Martin.

After spending Christmas dinner with her family, Angela says Viola got in her car Saturday for a twenty-minute trip to visit another daughter, but never made it there.

The lack of contact is especially unnerving for Angela, because she's awaiting the start of season 9 of American Idol.

The south suburban singer seems destined for a good run on the show, given what's shown in this promotional commercial.

This is Angela's second time on Idol. She got to the second round her last go-around, despite the murder of her father just before her Los Angeles try-out.

It's a past that gnaws hard on her tonight.

Today, police found her car near the south suburbs of Riverdale and Dixmoor, nowhere near her destination five days ago.
Her boyfriend was the last to see Viola, and just hopes she's okay.
