Chicago - Family and friends formed a prayer circle at the intersection of 18th and Halsted to remember Martha Gonzalez.

The mother of two was killed three weeks ago while crossing the street during rush hour.

Loved ones said Gonzalez had just left work and was walking home when a car traveling northbound hit her and took off.

Witnesses saw Gonzalez being thrown into the air, but there are conflicting descriptions of the vehicle that hit her.

While the investigation goes on, the family is trying to make sure no one else dies at the intersection of 18th and Halsted.

Tuesday evening at the time Gonzalez was killed on October 13, family and friends gathered stopping traffic in Pilsen and for ten minutes. Cars were redirected by Chicago police to go another way.

An inconvenience for some, but Gonzalez’s fiancé hopes someone who drives this way everyday will remember something about the crash.

“We don't have the driver. The driver is still out and about, the vehicle has not been fully identified and we need witnesses to step forward,” said the victim's fiancé, Andrew Kudelka.
