Chicago - State authorities are investigating whether an official with the City Department of Family and Support Services tipped off a Chicago nursing home about a surprise inspection.

According to the Chicago Tribune , the State Attorney General's Office went to inspect the Grasmere Place Nursing Home in July looking for evidence of poor living conditions.

The Tribune said there was evidence that the home had been tipped off in advance.

The unnamed city official is denying a tip-off, the paper reported.
