Bolingbrook - The body of Bolingbrook soldier Michael Pearson is returned to his hometown, a week after he was killed in the shootings at Fort Hood.
Pearson was known at Bolingbrook High School as a good student and a good person.
He graduated in 2006.
Thursday, as part of his somber homecoming procession, his body was driven through the horseshoe shaped driveway.
Michael Pearson was 21 years old.
He was one of two local soldiers killed in the Fort Hood massacre. He joined the army about a year ago. Pearson’s body arrived at Midway Airport in the morning.
As the plane went into the hangar, two fire trucks sprayed an arc of water as a tribute to Pearson.
From Midway Airport, in a procession led by the Patriot Guard, Pearson was driven by the Bolingbrook Village Hall and then his house.
The procession then came to the high school where hundreds of students were given the option to come out of class and pay their respects as Pearson passed by.
Michael Pearson's Father said he is very touched by the homecoming tribute for his son.
Visitation for Pearson will be held Friday and Saturday at the Fred Dames’ Funeral Home in Joliet, beginning at 9 a.m.
Pearson will be buried Saturday at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois.
