FOX Chicago News

Chicago - Murder suspect Drew Peterson will remain in jail, and he may be there a long time after an Illinois appeals court denied a request that he go free while he awaits trial.

Peterson is charged with the murder of his third wife, Kathleen Savio.

His trial is on hold pending an appeal about hearsay evidence, which could take months to sort out.

One of Peterson's attorneys is promising to take the fight to the Illinois Supreme Court and beyond.

Peterson has been in jail since his arrest in May 2009.
