Chicago - A hearing is being held to determine if Officer Anthony Abbate will remain on the Chicago Police force.

Abbate was convicted back in June of pummelling a bartender half his size in a bar on the northwest side.

He received no jail time, just two years probation and a mandate to attend anger management classes.

Abbate has testified today, but he took the fifth on most questions almost a hundred times.

The surveillance video from the bar appeared worldwide and generated outrage around the globe.

Prosecutors had asked for prison time, but the judge said he did not see any aggravating factors.

Abbate has been relieved of his duties and pay, but technically, he is still on the force.

The police board is expected to make a final decision tonight.
