Chicago - The City Council's Hispanic caucus is opening its ranks to non-Hispanics.

Ald. Danny Solis (25th) said "we had blinders on," in reference to the group's history of having only Latino members.

The decision follows the recent ward remapping , which increased the number of Hispanic wards to 13.

The caucus could add seven non-Hispanic aldermen with sizeable Latino populations in their wards.

Some of the aldermen include the Ald. Ed Burke (14th) and Ald. Dick Mell (33r).
