Chicago - Emergency crews are on the scene early Tuesday of a cargo train derailment in northwestern Burlington, Sheriff’s Police said.
About 3 a.m., emergency crews responded to a report of a cargo train derailment near Burlington and found three Canadian National Railway cars had come off the track near Illinois Route 47 near Plan Road, according to a release from the Kane County Sheriff’s office.
Nobody was injured, the release said.
Unconfirmed dispatch reports indicate a car carrying carbon dioxide was involved. There have been no fires or evacuations, the release said. The Burlington Fire Department is on the scene
Burlington Road is closed at Romke Road, Plan Road is closed at Main Street and Engle Road and Peplow Road is closed at Ellithporpe Road, the release said. The road closures are expected to last into the afternoon.
The Burlington Fire Department was not available for comment Tuesday morning.
