Body of Woman Found in Trash Can

Chicago - Police are conducting a death investigation after the body of a woman was found in a trash can on the South Side Wednesday morning.

About 10:30 a.m., a citizen discovered the body of a woman in a trash can in the 7300 block of South Carpenter Street, police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said.

The body was found in a trash can in an alley at 7349 S. Carpenter St., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. The woman, who remained unidentified Wednesday night, was pronounced dead on the scene at 12:31 p.m.

The woman's age was not known, and officials could not confirm whether she suffered any trauma.

Police were conducting a death investigation Wednesday night, pending a Thursday autopsy.

Wentworth Area detectives are investigating.
