Chicago, Illinois - A woman was killed in a drive-by shooting near Garfield Park Wednesday night on the West Side. Natasha Howliet, 20, was shot in the 3300 block of West Madison Street and was pronounced dead at 8:53 p.m. at Mount Sinai Hospital, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office. Her home address was not immediately available. Police said Howliet was standing on the sidewalk about 8 p.m. when somebody inside a red vehicle produced a gun and shot her in the shoulder. A motive has not been determined early Thursday, according to police.
Howliet’s myspace.com social networking Web site indicates she graduated West Town Academy, 2021 W. Fulton St., in 2008 after spending her first two years of high school at Clemente Community Academy, 1147 N. Western Ave. Howliet lists herself as a “proud parent” interested in basketball and cheerleading, according to the site, which indicated she worked at Kmart.
An autopsy is scheduled for later Thursday, according to the medical examiner’s office.
