Police Tuesday morning continue to seek a missing retired Chicago Police officer who was last seen Sunday afternoon on the South Side.

George Meadows, 73, was reported missing by his wife Sunday at 7:15 p.m. from the 9100 block of South Lowe Avenue after he failed to return home after going out to get a bite to eat, according to police News Affairs Officer David Banks.

Banks said Meadows -- who is a retired Chicago Police officer -- suffers from dementia, which he takes medication for and was last seen earlier that afternoon about 2 p.m.

Meadows is described as a black man, about 5-foot-9 and 130 pounds and was wearing black pants, according to the officer.

As of 4:15 a.m. Meadows remains missing and investigating detectives from the Calumet Area Special Victims Unit are putting together a Community Alert and a flyer, which will be available later Tuesday, Banks said.
