A retired Chicago Police officer suffering from dementia was found unharmed early Wednesday, more than two days after he went missing from his South Side home.

The wife of 73-year-old George Meadows reported him missing from his home in the 9100 block of South Lowe Avenue about 7:15 p.m. Sunday, police News Affairs Officer David Banks said.

Meadows, a retired Chicago Police officer, was found about 2:15 a.m. Wednesday as he stood next to a vehicle in the 3900 block of South Wells Street, Banks said.

Meadows had no signs of trauma, but was taken to an area hospital for evaluation, according to Banks.

Meadows was last seen about 2 p.m. Sunday after he went out to eat, according to Banks, who said Meadows took medication for dementia.
